For ELA and Spanish classrooms this Hispanic Heritage Tribute Door activity gives students the opportunity to research a Hispanic or Latino person who has made an important contribution to history, culture, science, sports, music, art, literature, education, social justice, or the community. Through this activity your ELA / Spanish students will get awareness about the contributions to our current society from people with Hispanic roots. WHY IS THIS ACTIVITY SUITABLE TO DIFFERENT TYPES OF LEARNERS? Through this activity your students will be active learners. They will choose a person, conduct research, create a portrait, complete a research card, and explain why their chosen person deserves a place on the class Hispanic Heritage Tribute Door. WHAT’S INCLUDED? - Teacher guidance to the activity and what exactly to tell your class to do - 1 Research card in English for students to summarize their research part and work in their oral speech abilities -1 Research card in Spanish for students to summarize their research part and work in their oral speech abilities - 6 Blank face outline designs for your students to choose the most suitable one for their character ( 3 female face outline design options and 3 male face outline design options) 1 neutral face outline design that can be used to draw a female or male character 💡 WHY STUDENTS WILL LOVE IT This project combines research, writing, creativity, cultural learning, and classroom community building in one engaging activity. Instead of simply learning about Hispanic Heritage through a worksheet, students become part of the celebration by choosing someone whose story inspires them and contributing that person's story to a collaborative classroom display. The completed door becomes a visual tribute to the diversity, accomplishments, perseverance, creativity, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino people around the world. 🌟 A MEANINGFUL HISPANIC HERITAGE PROJECT Use this activity to create a classroom display that is not only colorful and eye-catching but also student-created and research-based.
